Motorbike Insurance Buying Advice

Which motorbike insurance policy should you buy?

Buying motorcycle insurance can seem like a confusing task, but here at Carole Nash we’re determined to make it as simple and straightforward as possible.

There are three different types of motorbike cover:

  • Third party only
  • Third party fire and theft
  • Comprehensive

A third party only policy is the most basic level of cover. This gives you the minimum level of insurance needed to ride on the road. It provides insurance against a third party’s vehicle or property if you are involved in an accident where you are at fault.  There is no cover for fire damage, theft or accidental damage to your own motorcycle.

Third party fire and theft provides the same cover as third party only but lets you claim for fire damage or theft of your motorcycle.

Fully comprehensive insurance cover is the highest level of cover you can buy for your motorcycle. It provides all the cover of the above plus cover for your own motorcycle if you accidentally damage it.

Do you know… we make things simple if you need to claim?

If your motorcycle is involved in an incident – even if you don’t intend to make a claim – you should let us know what’s happened as this is a condition of your insurance.

Every claim is different, and the time it takes to resolve each one may differ, but our in-house claims team is on hand to help things move as efficiently as possible. There are no forms to fill in and our claims line is available 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Do you know… what comes with our motorcycle policies as standard?

Every Carole Nash policy comes with DNA+, our forensic security protection system (worth £30) that helps protect your bike and deter thieves. Find out more.

Our Rider Cover is an addition to your policy that allows you to ride your mate’s bike, for social, domestic and pleasure use, with total peace of mind – as we’ve got it covered! As long as you have the owner’s permission and both bikes have comprehensive cover, you can ride any bike, which gives you FREE accidental damage cover when riding that bike, this is subject to meeting the under writing criteria.

We’ll also give you accident and breakdown recovery anywhere in the EU and provide up to £100,000 in motorcycle legal expenses cover which – can be used in the event of an accident which is not your fault. See our benefits explained below in our video.

Did you know… you can purchase additional cover options?

If you want to top up your policy with additional cover to put your mind at ease, you can choose from a number of different options:

Do you know… you may be able to save even more?

If you own a vintage or classic motorcycle and are a member of an approved motorcycle club, or you’ve taken an approved riding qualification, then you could save up to 10% off your insurance premium.

Multi-Bike insurance could save you up to £249 when compared to individual policies taken out over the phone. This allows you to insure more than one bike under one policy. You have one premium, one renewal and one set of paperwork. You can only ride one bike at a time and that’s where a Multi-Bike policy through Carole Nash could help.
