Buick Insurance

Buick is one of the most well known brands in the automotive world, becoming the pillar in which General Motors was built on. The beginnings of the car can be traced back to 1899 with its founder David Dunbar Buick. Originally, Buick was an internal combustion engine manufacturer, but the company transitioned into making cars in 1904. During this period, 37 Buick cars were made.

But Buick’s true success came when an investor called William Durant became involved. He saw potential in the car and set to work on making it a memorable name. By 1926, Buick’s reputation for being reliable was world famous.

In later years, Buick has concentrated on luxury sedans and convertibles. Some memorable vehicles include the Regal Grand National muscle car, Riviera and Roadmaster Skylark. With a wide range of beautiful cars, Buick is a truly marvellous brand.

Through the years, Buick have developed cars for a range of tastes. The Roadmaster has a luxury feeling that dates back to the 1930s. From the long hood, to the curved windscreen, Roadmasters live up to their name. Earlier models came with a toothy grille that caused consumer reports to say “a toothbrush for the dentures comes extra.” This became less of a feature on later models.

A popular model of the 1960s was the Buick Riviera. It featured a V8 engine and unique bodyshell with frameless windows. Later style designs included a ‘boat-tail’ look that was featured on the third generation of Riviera from 1971 – 1973.

The 1980s saw the introduction of the Buick GNX. Considered the brand’s most iconic performance car, it had a 276-hp V6 engine. Lesser known cars include the 1990 Buick Reatta. The car only lasted for a few years, but it was an attractive machine by the standards of the time.
