Got a question

THE YEAR HAS come to an end from a racing prospective, and looking back we’ve had a pretty good one. It’s been very challenging at times; I joined my GBMoto team in December 2015, which was very late, and on top of that I knew I’d have to get used to the brand new Kawasaki ZX-10R and also the British tracks again after eight years in WSBK. And on top of that, I knew the switch to not having electronics wasn’t going to be easy.

We had quite a few issues throughout the year and at times I felt I was having to over-ride the bike, but we all pulled together to create a very competitive package and achieved more wins and podiums than anyone else, so for that we have to be happy.

As a rider you always look back at certain races; at round one in Silverstone I felt good to win but we had two technical issues. In Knockhill I was all set for the double win when I had a visor problem. And the big one was Donington when I knew I should have settled for second but I pushed too hard and crashed. I only crashed out of two races all year and both were in the Showdown, which is something to look at for 2017.

Looking at the positives I had some great battles wet and dry. My win at Brands Indy will always stand out, as well as my win at Cadwell Park. My double at Assen and my triple win at Oulton were just dream weekends. Away from BSB, my second place at the Suzuka 8-Hour felt like a win and my fifth place at Doha with Pedercini bike felt like I won a world championship. Also working with Kawasaki Japan and doing the last race for them and achieving two second places, I’m really happy with it all.

Looking ahead for 2017 I’m so happy to continue with Kawasaki as I believe a second year with this bike and the knowledge I’ve gathered will only put me in a stronger position. My aim is to win the British championship, and also compete in some other races like this year and hopefully achieve more wins.

As for now I want to thank all my fans and sponsors for their support and I hope to give you all something bigger and better to cheer for next year.

I especially want to say thank you to all at Carole Nash for your continued support.

Finally I’d like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
