Well, we’ve had another typical British summer, so here’s a wet weather riding tip!
You might already have noticed that a wet road makes the front end of your bike feel more sensitive and the steering lighter.
A technique to help you better feel what’s going on during a corner, especially if you think it’s going to be unusually slippery, is to take your weight off your wrists completely but maintain a gentle grip on the handlebars. It takes a bit of effort on some sports bikes (don’t strain your back!) but it stops your weight smothering small movements of the bars as the tyres track the road surface.
Be warned – you’ll be surprised at just how much movement there is in normal circumstances, so it might slow you down at first!
