Adrenalin Moto’s Funky XR1200

Adrenalin Moto, based in County Durham UK, have worked a little bit of magic on Harley-Davidson’s XR1200 flat-tracker model.

Adrenalin Moto’s Matt Purdy told insidebikes that they had three main aims in creating the bike; ” We wanted to lose weight, improve the rear suspension and release more ponies. In terms of styling we thought that the early 80s AMA Superbike racer look worked better than pure flat-tracker, so we had a new seat unit made, carbon panels, mudguards, belt covers etc.

Most of the incredibly heavy stock exhaust was skipped and local ace Kev Pickering made the 2-into-1 link pipe, matched to stock headers and a Hot Performance silencer, originally designed for a Yamaha FZ1.”

Adrenalin also made airbox, air filter and engine management changes to help the engine run cooler, with an improved throttle response throughout most of the rev range.

” The device we fitted isn’t a Power Commander, as incorrectly reported in MCN,” said Matt, ” but a gadget called an X-IED, an enriching device which fits between the Lambda sensors and the ECU. The only other mods are new spark plugs and Accel leads.”

Adrenalin beefed up the XR1200′s back end with Bitubo remote reservoir shocks, plus raised the ride height 2 inches and then dropped the forks 5mm in the yokes. The bike now steers quicker and also stops better with Honda SP2 calipers and an R1 master cylinder, plus Earl’s brake lines.

There’s one final touch in case Matt is caught out riding in poor visibility, the trick front number board is QD, with a headlight located directly behind it. The Adrenalin Moto crew are also thinking of adding a belly-pan to the bike.
