Performance car manufacturer Ariel Motor Company is poised to make a splash in the world of bikes with the introduction of its new motorcycle, which will make its debut at the end of June.
Ariel is already well-known for its Atom two-seater sports car and is now preparing to launch its motorcycle Ariel Moto, with the bike sporting an engine from the Honda VFR1200F.
The VFR1200F is a sports touring bike powered by a 1237 cc, liquid-cooled, 170 horse power V4 engine. The Ariel bike is also expected to come equipped with Honda’s dual clutch transmission, meaning that it will not have a clutch lever, but paddle shifters to switch between gears. The Honda bike can operate in three different modes: D mode, which is a fully automatic fuel-efficient mode; S mode, which changes gears at higher engine speeds; and manual mode, which allows the biker to change gears using paddles fitted to the handlebars.
There is still not much information about the Ariel bike, but it is already clear that the motorcycle will be produced in line with each customer’s own specifications, similarly to the Ariel Atom car.
Ariel Motor suggests that the motorcycle will be a power cruiser like the Ducati Diavel, offering a comfortable riding posture. The brand says it has no interest in developing race motorcycles at this point.
The bike will be officially presented at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which will take place from 26 to 29 June.
