Bike Show 101: everything you ever needed to know about attending Carole Nash Bike shows!

Carole-Nash-Bike-shows.jpg

With the sun still shining and plenty of light nights to take advantage of, now is the time to start filling your weekends. Luckily, there are tons of awesome motorcycle shows coming up this season – all you‘ve got to do is make sure you pick the right one.

Not all bike shows are the same, and simply picking one from a list at random could end up backfiring on you. Not only that, even if you do pick the right show, turning up unprepared for the day ahead can be just as bad.

To make sure neither of these scenarios happens, just try keeping these simple tips in mind. . .

What’s the deal?

For the majority of enthusiastic bikers, if the show contains motorbikes, that’s more than enough to guarantee a good day out. However, for those thinking of attending a show with the family this summer, there’s a little more to consider.

Ask yourself some of the following questions before committing to a certain plan:

• Are there any show highlights or activities that the kids can get involved in?
• Am I going to get my money’s worth? Where’s the action?
• Will there be any stalls where I can get my hands on a bargain?

An example of an event that’s sure to please the whole family is Motorcycle Live, which takes place on the 19th – 27th November. While adults can get stuck into a world of bikes, bikes and more bikes, youngsters from as little as two can have a go on a Kiddimoto balance bike – which should keep them smiling all the way home.

Three’s a crowd

Taking little ones to biking events is great, but that doesn’t mean you have to take the whole family for a day out if you simply fancy a ride out with your mates. In fact, by travelling alone or with one pillion, you can travel to where you‘re heading on your bike. All that’s left to do is enjoy the ride, wherever it is you‘re heading.

The further you travel, the more time you‘ll have on your bike – so just because a show is 100 miles away, that shouldn’t stop you from packing your panniers and heading out on an adventure.

We don’t care what the weatherman says. . .

Just because the weatherman says it’s going to be 25°C in the shade all weekend doesn’t mean you shouldn’t prepare for the worst. If there’s one thing you should remember about attending any sort of outdoor event here in the UK, it’s that the weather can turn sour quicker than a pint of milk in the desert – so be sure to pack a few waterproof jackets if you‘re looking to stay nice and dry.

Which one’s for me?

From classic weekenders to all-action stunt shows, there are just as many variations of bike show as there are bikes – and choosing the right one can be the difference between a waste of time and great day out. Unsure which event is right for you? Take a peek at the shows below and see if any take your fancy.

Classic shows. These are normally a firm favourite among all classic bikers looking to revisit the golden age of motorcycles. Expect plenty of nostalgic engines and the overriding scent of two-stroke oil at every turn. Some great Classic shows include the 23rd Carole Nash Euro Jumble on the 2nd and 3rd of September and the 23rd Carole Nash Motorcycle Mechanics Show on the 15th and 16th October.

Stunt shows. If you‘re looking to see wheelies, stoppies and burn-outs, then a stunt show is definitely for you. These events are really family friendly, and are perfect for bikers and non-bikers alike

Race meets. For seasoned bikers looking to get their next fix of knee-sliding, high-octane racing, a race meeting provides the perfect excuse to get out and about on two wheels this season.

If you‘re interested in hitting the road and visiting one of our annual shows, check out our Carole Nash show and events page to see where we’re riding too next. We can’t wait to see you there!
