Today sees the welcome return of Built In Britain www.mcnbuiltinbritain.co.uk, arguably the biggest and best biking contest in the land! 
Last year’s contest attracted the votes of thousands of British bikers and saw Lee Workman’s one-off Suzuki GSXR 1340 drag-styled streetfighter emerging as amateur victor. Riders also elected Rolling Art Motorcycles as their pro-builder choice having been wooed by the one-off “Dunkley Harton”, a beautiful marriage of 1200cc Harley-Davidson Sportster bike with a Norton replica featherbed frame, Honda components and custom parts engineered by workshop supremos, Glenn and Gary Dance.
The 2013 competition is shaping up to be another mighty monster with an impressive prize package to entice proud owners to enter the fray. With the Professional winner pocketing a £1,000 cash prize. The amateur winner will pocket £1,000 cash, and also bag a 15 drawer SEALEY Topchest and Rollcab combi with a 147 piece toolkit worth over £1,350. The amateur runner-up will also win another SEALEY gem, the five drawer Topchest with a handy 138 piece toolkit which carries a retail price tag of nearly £690.
As ever it’s not, by a long chalk, all about the prizes, but equally the glory. For the twelve finalists will also see their pride and joys professionally photographed for the Carole Nash 2014 calendar and the prize winners will be displayed for the delectation of over 100,000 discerning bikers on the company’s stand at Motorcycle Live show.
Commenting on the launch of the seventh annual Built in Britain contest, Carole Nash’s head of marketing, Rebecca Donohue, said: “Built In Britain is all about celebrating the incredible creativity, ingenuity and skill of the country’s biking fanatics, both amateur and professional. It embraces all kinds of bikes, from classics to customs, Superiors to Street Triples, making it the most inclusive and exciting biking battle of Britain!”
Bikers can enter one of six categories – Choppers & Customs, Classics, Concours & Restored, Pro-Builder, Sports & Sports Modified and Streetfighters – simply by uploading a picture (or pictures) of their bike together with some details to www.mcnbuiltinbritain.co.uk. An expert panel of judges will then whittle down the entries to a shortlist of 50 with a further ten voted in by visitors to our Facebook page.
Once the shortlist is finalised voting will be opened to the British biking public to determine which twelve bikes go on to the finals before the ultimate winners are displayed between November to 1 December at the NEC show.
The closing date for uploading your entry is August 8 but the sooner you get your bike on the site, the sooner people can start to admire its attributes. So what are you waiting for?
