BMW Searching For Riders To Join UK Team For 2014 GS Trophy

BMW is inviting riders from the United Kingdom to compete for three free places in the UK Team for this year’s GS Trophy final which will take place in Canada. The qualifying event will be held on 25-26 May in South Wales at the BMW Off-Road Skills School, Motorcycle News has reported.

Bikers will compete in challenges such as navigation on a road loop on their own motorcycles, while the off-road competition will be on BMW bikes. The German manufacturer says that the qualifier is suitable for all bikers of all levels and abilities, and that it will also feature a host of enjoyable and entertaining on-road and off-road challenges, along with navigation and practical tests on roads around South Wales.

The three top bikers will be chosen by Simon Pavey, off-road racer and Dakar legend. The riders will represent the United Kingdom in the final and will be competing against teams from more than 15 other countries. The lucky trio will be flown out to Canada, with BMW paying for all expenses for the ten-day event.

BMW Off-Road Skills will also host a one-day refresher course for participants of the qualifier who want extra practice. The course costs £249 and will take place on 24 May. Bikers will be able to choose the motorcycle they want to practice on and will also get advice from professional instructors. In addition, customers can also book one of the last places on the BMW Off-Road Skills two-day courses to practice their techniques and skills ahead of the qualifier.
