This year’s Classic Car & Motorcycle Live takes place on Sunday, 22 June at Mondello Park, Caragh, County Kildare. For the third year running, Carol Nash are proud title sponsors of this fantastic event, and visitors can expect a day jam-packed with demos, races, exhibitions and displays.
This year marks the show’s seventh birthday, after starting up in 2008 as a car-only event. In 2011 the event’s organisers decided to introduce motorcycles into the mix, and one year later we jumped on board to be part of Ireland’s biggest and best motorcycle and car show.
Each year, the show focuses on a particular aspect of motoring, and the 2014 theme is Irish motoring. In fact, the show will play host to the largest-ever gathering of Irish-built road and racing cars, with the vehicles either being assembled or manufactured in the country. Of course, there will also be numerous vehicles from across Europe, too.
One of the highlights of the show will no doubt be the Classic Car & Motorcycle Races. There are three races organised for classic bikes, two being held for Historic Racing Car Association (HRCA) classic cars, and one race for pre-1955 racers. Following the track action, visitors can stroll around the paddock and pit lane to check out the vehicles. Some of the vehicles’ owners will be holding interviews at the Mondello Park Podium, where they’ll be talking about their classic cars and motorbikes.
This year, visitors will be treated to a demonstration run of Jackie Stewart’s 1967 Indianapolis 500 Lola T92. The vehicle is one of the first rear-engined racer to compete at the Indy 500. The car is currently on display at the Mondello Park Museum of Motorsport, which visitors can enter free of charge during the event.
As well as all this, there will be a bigger-than-ever trade area featuring top manufacturers, numerous club displays and an extra-large autojumble, where visitors will be able to bag a few bargains.
