There’ll be more than a touch of biking bling at Edinburgh’s Royal Highland Centre this weekend as renowned Harley customisers Shaw Speed & Custom bring two of their magnificent machines to the Carole Nash MCN Scottish Motorcycle Show.
The AMD World Championship podium placed Bell Ross Nascafe Racer and Slim Shakey will both make their Scottish exhibition debut when they appear on the Carole Nash stand (H200).
Described as “NASCAR meets cafe racer” the Bell Ross was created by stripping an FXSTB Softail Nightrain and rebuilding it with a dropped front end, bespoke exhaust system and a host of other creative tweaks and twists. These include a timepiece manufactured by luxury watchmaker, Bell & Ross from which the bike gained its name.
Slim Shakey, commissioned by current BSB champion Shane “Shakey” Byrne, appears fresh from wowing the crowds at Verona’s Motor Bike Expo. Built from the bones of a Harley Softail Slim the bike was created in consultation with the three time BSB title taker and is equipped with a slimmer front end with new handlebars and rises, offset by a whopping front brake rotor with Performance machine caliper which give it an added stylistic and functional muscle. Roland Sands has contributed a distinctive tank – with Byrne’s favoured 67 in metallic 3D effect – seat, seat pan and rear fender, whilst a suitably menacing look is enhanced by the low slung suspensions. Words cannot do the bike justice because, as with all Shaw creations, the beauty is in the detail, so take your time to appreciate every nut, cog, lever and fork!
Of course there’s plenty more going on at Scotland’s biggest motorcycle show, including live stunt action courtesy of the Broke FMX and Inch Perfect Trials display teams and former Scottish motox and world stunting champ, Kevin Carmichael.
There will also be guest appearance by Falkirk BSB and GP racing legend Niall Mackenzie and the ever-popular Morecambe Missile, John McGuiness. The Classic section will feature an awesome line up of 350 bikes spanning 99 years whilst naturally the big manufacturers will be keen to keep you up to date with their 2013 models. Among those show off their shiniest new machines will be Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, Triumph, Victory an Yamaha.
Talking of Suzuki, nip on to the Carole Nash stand to enter the competition you’ll be in to win a brand spanking new GSR750 along with all the other bounty that comprises the humungous prize package in The Ultimate Biking Giveaway *. Be first out of the metaphorical hat and you’ll also pocket a Suzuki Alto SZ car together with Carole Nash’s pioneering Six Wheel Insurance, designed to save hassle and money for those who own two wheel and four!
