Keeping the momentum of last year’s 50th Anniversary celebrations going, Yamaha is very pleased to announce a forthcoming event – Donington Classic Festival – Celebrating Yamaha.

Donington opens for Yamaha festival

Set to take place over the weekend of August 11th& 12th at the famous Derbyshire circuit, the Classic Racing Motorcycle Club (CRMC), Donington Park, Yamaha Motor UK and the Yamaha Classic Racing Team (YCRT) will be bringing the festival spirit to the CRMC’s annual international classic racing event, with riders and machines from the early years of Yamaha’s success right up to the present day.

As one of only a handful of appearances throughout Europe in 2012, the YCRT’s attendance at Donington is a unique opportunity for visitors. Not only will they get a chance to have a closer look at the historic factory machines restored and maintained by the team, they will also have the chance to see, smell and hear them in action as they are paraded around the circuit each day, piloted by a host of classic riders including legendary multiple-world champion and TT-winner, Phil Read.

As well as the fantastic selection of vintage factory Yamaha machines on display in the Paddock Suite, the paddock will also be full of classic racing machines as diverse as the nationalities of their owners, all battling for points in the various CRMC championships.

The highlight of this unique event will be the appearance of the Yamaha Motor Racing supported, Yamaha YZR-M1 MotoGP machine. As well as being on display alongside its lineage, the M1 will also be ridden around the circuit, again piloted by Phil Read, bringing the different eras of Yamahas GP history together.

In addition to all the Yamaha machinery on display from the YCRT and Yamaha owners clubs, the weekend is also about classic racing and the timetable is jam-packed. With over 30 races throughout the weekend, you can watch riders from all over Europe and beyond trading paint on their classic machines and battling for points and podium positions.

Tickets for this fantastic weekend are available on the gate throughout the weekend with adult admission costing £15.00 for a Saturday or Sunday ticket, £25.00 for a weekend ticket and £10.00 for concessions (Children 15 and under go free if accompanied by an adult).
