Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati took home five awards at the Motorrad des Jahres event, which took place on 17 March. The annual awards ceremony is organised by Motorrad magazine and was held at Stuttgart’s Residenztheater, the Motorbike Times reported.
The winners for the awards are decided by the magazine’s readers. Ducati’s success highlighted the increasing popularity of the respected Italian company within the German market.
The Ducati Multistrada, which is basically four-bikes-in-one, was awarded Motorcycle of the Year in the ‘Allrounder’ category. Ducati’s Diavel took the award for the Motorcycle of the Year in the Cruiser category.
Alongside the top awards for the two aforementioned models, Ducati’s 1199 and 899 Panigale Superbikes were voted a respective second and third by the magazine’s readers in the Motorcycle of the Year Sportbike category, while the brand’s Hypermotard took the third spot in the Enduro/Supermoto category.
Ducati’s CEO Claudio Domenicali attended the event to receive the awards.
Not too long ago, Ducati unveiled its Monster 1200 model, which is now available in dealerships across the United Kingdom. The Monster 1200 has a liquid-cooled, eight-valve engine. With the brand’s range already including the Diavel and the recently discontinued 1,099cc Streetfighter, the Monster 1200 has been developed with a focus on ease of use and with an emphasis on versatility rather than outright speed. The bike’s average price in mid-March was £12,995.
