It has been confirmed today that 15 time IOM TT winner Michael Dunlop will be aboard a TAS Racing-prepared Tyco BMW S1000RR for the 2018 road racing season.
Tyco BMW and Dunlop are joining forces to predominantly compete in the ‘TT Superbike’ and ‘Senior’ races. The Ballymoney rider is already familiar with the German manufacturer because in 2014 he won all 3 of the Superbike races aboard a BMW Motorrad S1000RR.
It seems Dunlop can apply himself to pretty much any machinery and will undoubtedly be going into this years TT week with a target on his back, especially because of the fact that last year he was victorious in the Senior TT on a Suzuki GSXR. Michael is also the only man in history to lap the TT course in under 17 minutes.
Michael said “Tyco BMW and I have spoken many times but nothing ever came of it, but this year everything fell into place. I think it’s a good time for us both to work together and I think both of us can bring something to the table. I’m looking forward to seeing the outcome”
Philip Neill added “My father and I, together with all the guys at TAS Racing, are excited and looking forward to the challenge.”
Michael and Tyco BMW by TAS’s first outing together will be at the North West 200 in May, and the world will be watching to see if the pairing will be on the right road to potential Superbike dominance in 2018.
