Lorry mechanic and Isle of Man TT racer Guy Martin will be returning to our television screens this October with one of two new shows lined-up for this year, Visordown has reported.
The first series, which will be aired on Channel 4, will follow Guy as he embarks on a two year-long restoration project of the nation’s favourite aeroplane, the Spitfire fighter aircraft.
Guy’s second TV appearance will be in the winter for the second series of Speed, which follows the racer as he undertakes numerous speed-based challenges while learning about the science behind it all. During the first series of Speed, Guy Martin set the record for the fastest gravity-powered sled in the world; he also rode a pedal bike at over 100mph and attempted to pilot the quickest-ever human-powered aircraft.
Guy told Chanel 4 that he loves pushing the boundaries of speed in search of a buzz, especially when he’s racing the roads of the Isle of Man at 200mph. With his Speed television series, he wanted to see if he could find anything that can give him the same kick, while also learning about the physics behind speed and getting hands-on with a range of unique engineering projects.
In honour of Guy’s return, Channel 4 has launched a series of short, internet-based episodes in a series called Guy Martin’s Passion for Life. Each episode is around seven minutes long and focuses on ‘Guy Martin’s complex character, revealing his candid thoughts on the dangers of the Isle of Man TT, and featuring exclusive access to his normally off-limits private life,’ according to Channel4.com. The first two episodes are available to watch online now.
