Harley-Davidson unveils 2018 Battle of the Kings contenders

harley_BOTK.jpg

Harley-Davidson has publicly launched its fourth Battle of the Kings contest, the annual bike building competition designed to showcase what Harley dealers can do with a limited budget and access to the official parts catalogue. And you can vote on which ones will be on display at next month’s Carole Nash MCN London Motorcycle Show, where the national winner will be decided.

Far from letting the dealer workshops go crazy, Battle of the Kings has a very strict set of rules that restricts the models that can be used and the budget they can spend to £5500.

This year’s competition sees dealerships given a wider range of base bikes to build from and a new criteria. Instead of dealerships creating a special from the eligible models, this time around it is the turn of a customer to choose the bike and design direction. As well as getting a unique motorcycle to ride around on, the new owner will have a chance of winning back the money they’ve invested in the machine.

This year’s seven eligible models are the Street 750, Street Rod, Forty-Eight, Roadster, Iron 883, Fat Bob and Street Bob. You can view all the UK and Ireland entrants at https://customkings.harley-davidson.com/en_GB/and vote for your favourite. The top five will then go on display at the London show, where the judging panel will decide on the regional winner. This winning custom will then go to the grand final at November’s EICMA show in Milan, alongside the winners from 20 other countries.
