This year’s Harley-Davidson World Ride will take place on 22-23 June, the US motorcycle manufacturer has announced.
Bikers from around the world are expected to take part in the two-day ride, travelling millions of miles on roads across the globe.
The first event was held in 2008 and was a one-day ride called Million Mile Monday. It was organised by the Harley Owners Group (HOG) and a few years later the event became a two-day ride out and was renamed the Harley-Davidson World Ride.
Last year’s Harley-Davidson World Ride was a huge success, with motorcyclists from over 66 countries joining the event. The ride, which clocked up over 10 million miles, coincided with the 110th anniversary of Harley-Davidson and the 30th anniversary of HOG, Two Wheel Mania says.
The organisers don’t mind how bikers take part – whether in small groups or solo, or as part of a charity ride – all that’s important is that lovers of two wheels start their bikes and hit the road for two days. It is up to each biker how they spend the time riding and all that Harley asks is that participants record the total distance ridden and enter it into Harley’s online mileage accumulator at http://h-d.com/worldride.
Bikers can upload photos from their ride and tell their stories by using the hashtag #HDworldride on Twitter to connect and share experiences with other bikers.
Harley says that with the ride it aims to “tattoo the globe” in a united demonstration of freedom.
