JG Speedfit Kawasaki’s Leon Haslam switches his attentions from leading the British Superbike Championship to hosting and contesting his annual charity golf event on Tuesday June 6.
The Leon Haslam Classic is in aid of children’s charity Sparks and takes place at Wellingborough Golf Club in Northamptonshire and in the seven previous years that Haslam has hosted the event it has raised more than £100,000 for Sparks.
“It’s a great day from morning to night,” said Haslam. “The event sells out every year so 32 teams of four will all be looking to win but they also recognise the reason for the day and the excellent work Sparks provide with their funding for important medical research.
“Sparks also have excellent support from television and sporting celebrities and this year it will again be nice to welcome some of those to Wellingborough. Actor Kevin Whately and rugby stars Ben Foden and Paul Grayson are among those supporting this year’s Classic.”
The event begins with breakfast for all competitors in Wellingborough Golf Club’s 17th century Harrowden Hall before a putting competition, the 18-hole competition and then dinner and entertainment in the lawn marquee. This year’s entertainment includes comedian host Aaron James and will feature the comedy act of Britain’s Got Talent star Kev Orkian.
Haslam added: “The event has some great support and I’d like to thank everyone that contributes to the day and ultimately helps us raise important funds for Sparks.”
