A trike conversion for the Honda Silverwing scooter is now available from specialist conversion kit manufacturer Motor Trike.
The GT3 conversion comes with outboard rear disc brakes and a tuned suspension to give both the driver and passenger a smooth, comfortable ride. It maintains all of the standard vehicle systems including ABS and mechanical parking brake.
Motor Trike says that the automatic transmission and upgraded suspension package makes the GT3 easy to operate and an ideal commuter vehicle.
Under-seat storage provides enough room to hold two helmets and rain suits, while added options include rear wheel upgrades, rake kit and colour-matched paint.
The kit is designed to fit all Honda Silverwings from 2001 to the current model and it comes with a three-year/60,000-mile warranty.
According to Motor Trike, the conversion does not significantly increase the wheelbase length, preserving low-speed manoeuvrability similar to that of a two-wheel bike while still allowing the trike to handle and ride smoothly at any speed. When completed, the overall width of the trike is 50.5″. Wheelbase length is 74.5″ and the overall length comes in at 97.5″.
Pricing for the basic kit starts at $4,995, making it a cost-effective way to get the stability of three wheels.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, Motor Trike president Jeff Vey thinks the GT3 is well worth buying. “It is sleek and comfortable. It has tons of storage space. It is so easy to drive. Life is too short not to have one,” he said.
The launch of the GT3 conversion kit for the Honda Silverwing follows the company’s Breeze conversion for the Suzuki Burgman 650.
