Indian has continued its relationship with whiskey brand Jack Daniel’s by producing what it describes as a limited edition, ultra-premium, version of Springfield Dark Horse model.

For the fourth year in a row, the two classic American brands have teamed up with custom bike builders Klock Werks Kustom Cycles from South Dakota to make a limited edition Indian.

Powering the new Jack Daniel’s Limited Edition Indian Springfield Dark Horse is Indian Motorcycle’s first ever factory 116 cubic-inch (1890 cc) Thunder Stroke engine, which is claimed to deliver a staggering 167Nm of torque, up from the already healthy 151Nm of the stock, 1811cc, motor.

Inspired by Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select brand the Jack Daniel’s Limited Edition Indian Springfield Dark Horse has a unique paint scheme that represents the custom made oak barrels, which are made in house to age whisky, as well as the whiskey’s packaging. Called ‘Heavy Metal Crystal and Thunder Black Vivid Crystal’ the bike is hand finished with bespoke logos and badges featuring the wood grain finishes from the barrels.

Of course, Klock Werk Kustom Cycles haven’t stopped there. Other modifications include apehanger bars with a 30cm rise, to give the bike a new stance, and these are combined with a tinted, detachable windscreen. There are also high-end, custom machined wheels and LED lights throughout. There’s also a leather ‘gunfighter’ seat and tank strap bearing the Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Select logo, engraved rider and pillion floorboards, and a numbered Montana Silversmith badge, which all add to the upmarket nature of the bike.

“The team at Jack Daniel’s relies immensely on their passionate and specialized craftsmen to control the Single Barrel Select process from beginning to end, as each of them pour their personal pride and loyalty into the product every day,” said Reid Wilson, Senior Director for Indian Motorcycle. “Our team at Indian Motorcycle shares that same passion for craftsmanship and developed this motorcycle as a tribute to all the craftsmen who value working with their hands and are committed to developing products of the finest quality.”

Just 177 examples of the JD Indian will be built. Each will be individually numbered and will come with a commemorative wooden Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel bottle display, crafted from the same oak barrels used to mature the liquor. The holder also comes with two custom branded rocks glasses and a spot for a bottle of Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel. It’s also padded with the same leather as the motorbike’s seat. Each gift will be custom made and engraved with the owner’s name and motorcycle VIN number.

Deliveries of the limited edition bike will start in September, although UK prices have not been released yet. If US prices ($37,000 against $22,000 for the standard machine) are a guideline, expect to have to pay in the region of £40,000 to have one in your garage.
