The motorcycling world is full of big names and at Carole Nash we’re proud to announce that World and British superbike runner-up, Leon Haslam has renewed his contract with us as an ambassador. We sponsored Leon throughout 2016 and are looking forward to seeing him have another strong year in 2017.
Also known as ‘Pocket Rocket,’ Leon is the son of biking legend ‘Rocket’ Ron Haslam. He established himself from an early age, becoming National Youth Motocross champion in 1995 and 1996. In 1998, Leon won the title of MCN Young Rider of the year. In 2000, he was part of the Italjet team on their return to the 125cc world championship. In 2001, he rode a privateer Honda NSR500V, making him the youngest rider ever to compete in the series.
Leon’s success continued in 2004, when he was crowned ‘rookie of the year’ after riding for the Renegade Ducati team. From 2005 to 2008 he returned to the British Supersport Championship and went on to be a part of the Stiggy Honda team in 2009.
By 2010, Leon had joined Alstare Suzuki and went on to win his first WSBK pole at Phillip Island. Even more impressive is that he was able to beat Michael Fabrizio by 0.004 seconds, the closest finish even recorded in a World Superbike race. Leon joined the BMW team in 2011 and moved onto Team Pata Honda in 2013. He did this alongside fellow Carole Nash sponsor, Johnny Rea. His other accomplishments include winning the prestigious Coke Zero Suzuka 8 Hours in 2013 and 2014. Leon signed for the Aprilia Red Devils Roma Team in 2015.
During 2016, Leon signed with the JG Speedfit Kawasaki team and took part in several races, such as the World Superbike Championship in Qatar.
Leon is a great talent and we’ll continue to support him in all his future biking endeavours. To keep up to date with the races he’ll be appearing in, you can check out his website.
