What do you consider a long ride? A few hundred miles? Or perhaps you’ve clocked up a few more miles by taking a tour around Europe or further afield.
How about riding from London to China?
The iconic Ace Cafe London has teamed up with motorcycle expedition specialist GlobeBusters to organise a 12,000-mile ride from London to Beijing, to celebrate the opening of the newest Ace Cafe venue.
An international team of riders is planning to leave London on Saturday 25 April 2015 and arrive in the Chinese capital 80 days later, on 13 July, in time for the grand opening of Ace Cafe Beijing. The ride will take them through Istanbul (Turkey), Tehran (Iran), Samarkand (Uzbekistan) and Everest Base Camp (Tibet).
If you fancy joining the team for what GlobeBusters describes as “the ultimate burn-up” there’s still time to book – but places are limited and bookings will close soon because of Chinese visa requirements.
On its website, GlobeBusters says the trip is its toughest expedition and is only suitable for those with advanced road riding skills, ideally with travel experience in developing countries, either on or off the bike. The team will cover up to 400 road miles in one day – or up to 250 miles on challenging, unpaved roads.
It’s certainly the adventure of a lifetime, and not for the faint-hearted!
But for those of us staying in the UK, there’s an opportunity to share in the excitement of the trip. A special send-off party will be held at Ace Cafe London on the evening of Friday 24 April 2015.
