Former motocross rider Mark Hucklebridge, who has been diagnosed with cancer for the second time, has started a fund-raising initiative for the Forever Friends cancer charity with his wife, Bike Sport News reported.

Following recent scans, Hucklebridge learned that the disease has returned to his lungs and pelvis making it unsuitable for surgery.

Now, the motocross rider plans to raise money through running a half marathon and holding an auction. All funds raised will go to the Forever Friends Appeal, who are setting up their cancer unit and aim to be in the top five research and care charities in Britain, Hucklebridge says. Dyson and MJ Church are major sponsors and expect to raise £50,000 in 2014 through Huck, as he is known.

Huck plans to run the 13.1-mile Bath Half marathon with his wife Emma alongside their friends, who have so far raised more than £2500, before starting his chemotherapy treatment. He expressed hopes that people’s donations and gifts will help doctors soon find a treatment for this horrible disease and a cure for him, as well.

35 year-old Mark Hucklebridge was diagnosed with bowel cancer and secondary lung cancer in November 2010, and his first operation was carried out in June 2011 when doctors removed the tumour in his bowel. In May 2012, he had another operation to remove the tumour in his right lung.
