Round 5 of the MotoGP went speeding ahead in Le Mans, France, despite tough riding conditions following a sharp rise in temperatures at the weekend.
Jorge Lorenzo won his second MotoGP race in a row, with Italy’s Valentino Rossi and Andrea Dovizioso following his lead in quick succession. Despite passing both Bradley Smith and Andrea Iannone, it was a difficult ride for Honda rider Marc Marquez – he was unable to keep up with Lorenzo’s pace and crossed the finish line of the 28 lap race in fourth position.
In other news, Marquez’s fellow Repsol Honda rider Dani Predrosa returned to MotoGP having missed three events following arm pump surgery. Predrosa managed to crawl his way up to 7th position, but dramatically fell to 16th place having lost the front in turn three on the second lap.
An extraordinary feat, Andrea Iannone flew across the finish line in fifth place, despite suffering from a dislocated shoulder acquired in a testing fall at Mugello last Tuesday. Aleix Espargo was also in serious pain while competing in Le Mans, following a violent highside on Saturday, and finished in 24th place.
