The weekend saw a return to sunny Spain – Catalunya, to be precise – for round seven of the MotoGP. The Monster Energy de Catalunya saw the Movistar Yamaha team dominate the competition once again, with both of their riders claiming podium spots.
Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo stormed ahead of the pack, with Lorenzo keeping up his stunning form in front of a home crowd to reach his fourth consecutive win for the second time in his career. His performance also means he holds a new record for consecutive laps led in the MotoGP class – a seriously impressive 103.
Rossi crossed the finish line less than a second later, with the two locked in an ever-tenser battle for the season’s overall top spot. Just a single point separates them at the moment – the next race promises to be a fierce battle between the two teammates!
Respol Honda’s Dani Pederosa rounded out the podium spots – his first of the season – but elsewhere the Respol team suffered worse luck. Reigning champion Marc Marquez hasn’t been able to catch a break this season – despite a brief spell in second, Marquez crashed out at the end of lap three, putting him in fifth overall.

Round eight will see the season head to the Netherlands on the 27th of June for the Motul TT Assen. Marquez was the winner there in 2014, but who will come out on top this time around?
