MotoGP 2015: Round 8

It was a fast and furious weekend in the Netherlands for the eighth round of the 2015 MotoGP. The Assen circuit is an institution, as the only venue to have held a round of the championship every year since it began in 1949.

Marc Marquez was out on the circuit with a point to prove – his form in the competition so far has been disappointing, something he’s blamed on his Honda V4 motor. For the Assen race, he switched back to the RC213V that carried him to victory in 2014, and it made for one of his best performances in quite some time!

However, it wasn’t quite enough to beat current frontrunner for the title, Valentino Rossi. Marquez and Rossi clashed throughout the race, and in the end it came down to the final corner. Rossi ended up clinching the win with a nail-biting 1.2 seconds, while teammate Jorge Lorenzo earned third.

All the same, it’s good to see Marc back on form – it’ll certainly make for an even more exciting competition from here on out, if that’s even possible!
