Eccentric adventure motorcyclist Nick Sanders has embarked on his latest expedition, this time taking to roads much closer to home than his usual world travelling exploits.
Having received sponsorship from leading bike insurance broker Carole Nash, Sanders has saddled up on his R1 to complete Parallel Coast, a 4,000 mile journey around Britain’s coast. The trip is expected to take him a month.
As with last year’s Parallel World project, which saw Nick travelling the world by the longest possible route, Parallel Coast will spawn a book and film capturing his escapades. Parallel World was Nick’s fifth and final global circumnavigation with the new project demonstrating that an appetite for adventure can be satisfied at home.
Commenting on the expedition Nick said: “My new book, Parallel Coast, is connected to the last round-the-world expedition by the word ‘Parallel’ because this is how I see my life. It is split into two – fast, slow, intense and frivolous, historical and yet also contemporary. I love biking so much I feel a real need to push the envelope about what riding is all about.”
Carole Nash’s head of marketing Rebecca Donohue welcomed Nick’s new adventure. “It seems fitting that in the year of the ‘staycation’ Nick should choose to explore Britain’s coast. It’s great too that once more visitors to the Carole Nash website can follow his exploits, getting a sneak preview of what to expect from the forthcoming Parallel Coast book and film. Nick’s last blog proved hugely popular. He has a unique, infectious style which communicates not just his passion for biking, but for adventure.”
