Pop to the pageant for petrolheads

This weekend sees the most welcome return of the petrolheads’ paradise that is the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.

Cholmondeley Pageant of Power.

Now in its sixth year, this fearsome feast of fuel-powered forces features an amazing line up of superbikes, supercars and race and rally motors. It even celebrates the mighty monsters that spurn terra firma, with helicopters and powerboats thrown into the mix alongside iconic warplanes such as the Hurricane, Lancaster and Spitfire.

Bike entries span more than a century, ranging from an endearingly eccentric looking 1910 Edison Puton Mono Cycle to a 2013 KTM 450 SMR. Supermoto. Along the chronological way you’ll find treats from pretty much every decade, including, among many others, a 1938 Velocette Sprint Special, 1951 Vincent Rapide sidecar, a ’67 Kawasaki A 1R, 1972 Seeley Yamsel Honda 250, a 1982 Ireson F1 sidecar and a 2008 Norton Rotary.

For those of you partial to four wheeled wonders there’s an awesome array of supercars including more Aston Martins than a James Bond box set. Among them is a fantastic 1934 Ulster LM16 racing motor whilst other mighty marques featured include Bentley, Bugatti, Lagonda, Lotus and Porsche.

Many will be taking to the Cholmondely circuit to show off their wares, including a Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera seeking to reclaim its lap record.

The entertainment is set to be non-stop with events on land, sea – well lake! – and air whilst for the more cultured among you the Manchester Camerata Orchestra will be in concert on Saturday night, accompanied by what promises to be a humdinger of a firework display.

If you’re tempted – and you surely are? – then keep ‘em peeled for the Carole Nash posse who will  once again be pitching the much travelled company marquee ready to meet and greet you. Not only will they be dishing out the freebies and advising on your bike insurance queries, they may, if you’ve got a favoured four-wheeler, also point you in the direction of our recently launched Cherished Cars division which offers specialist cover for classic, performance and other prized cars and vehicles.

Another of their favoured topics of conversation may well be the Ultimate Biking Giveaway, given that right now if you get a Carole Nash motorcycle insurance quote you’ll be entered for this rather special draw which offers a prize package worth up to £20,000. **

* The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power runs from Friday 14th – Sunday 16th June on the Cholmondeley Estate, Malpas, Cheshire. Adult day tickets on the gate start at £25. Click here for details of various one, two and three day ticket options.
