Signal Light Backpack Provides Greater Visibility

signal-light-backpack.jpg

We’re all familiar with concept bikes – but how about concept accessories?

Designer Angela Wang has come up with a prototype for the MEDA, a motorcyclist’s backpack with some interesting safety features, including integrated lights that are coupled with the rider’s existing braking and turn signal system.

A red light at the top of the backpack illuminates when you press the brakes, and orange indicator lights help make it clear when you are about to turn left or right.

Other features include reflective fabric on the straps and chest to further enhance visibility, and chest and back cushions that mould to your body for extra protection in addition to your normal riding gear. The backpack is waterproof and weatherproof and it has inserts that can provide hands-free hydration on long rides or when the weather is hot.

Is it big enough for your needs? Well, the MEDA fits laptops up to 17″ as well as books and accessories, with room to spare. A unique weight distribution system ensures ergonomic comfort and the straps and chest piece are designed to be comfortable for both male and female riders. An “infinite buckle system” allows the straps to loop back, preventing them from dangling while you’re on the move.

It’s not yet available to buy, and there’s no word on pricing, but the MEDA is an interesting concept and the design is eye-catching. Interested?
