Top five motorcycle apps

MOTORCYCLE-APPS.jpg

Whether you’re on the lookout for a new route to ride or simply need to know if the weather’s going to hold out, an app can totally change the way you approach biking in the modern era.

Knowing which apps to download can be tricky – and simply punching in ‘motorcycle app’ into your respective app store isn’t the most effective way to go about things. Instead, search for the apps listed below, click ‘download’ and enjoy!

Beat the weatherman

There’s nothing worse than setting off for a nice long ride only to have your plans ruined by an unexpected downpour. That’s where AccuWeather steps in. Offering hour-by-hour weather reports in real time, you’ll be able to see exactly what the weather will be doing during your time on the road.

Bang for your buck

Given the tumbling price of oil over the past few years, more and more people are making a conscious effort to make their money stretch as far as possible at the pumps. That’s why apps like WhatGas are so great. The best bit about this app is that it allows you to compare petrol prices within a certain area, which means you can always find the best deal.

Safe and social

While there will always be some bikers who enjoy riding alone, plenty of others enjoy a more social approach. For these people, EatSleepRIDE is the perfect app. Not only does it track your lean angle, speed and route, it also allows you to share a certain route with the app’s social community.

Whether you want to meet new people, ride new routes or simply wish to track your ride, EatSleepRIDE is a must. What’s more, for a small fee bikers can take full advantage of CRASHLIGHT – a feature that alerts up to three contacts when a crash is detected.

Ride the best routes

Nobody likes sitting in traffic jams, but what’s worse is having your favourite route disrupted by road works, potholes or worse still, caravans. Luckily, the Best Biking Roads app has your back. As the name suggests, the app is packed with a definitive list of the best routes in the UK and Europe – perfect for when you’re on the lookout for new places to visit on your bike.

The short Waze around

If you’re the type of biker who uses two wheels to get to work on a morning, you’ll probably know how heavy the traffic can be when rush hour strikes. For such people, an innovative app known as Waze could provide a great solution to the gridlock. As the world’s largest community-based traffic app, Waze lets you know exactly where traffic is building up in real time, which makes finding the quickest route an absolute doddle.

We don’t mean to blow our own horn, but we think our insidebikes app is a must-have app for bikers. Right now you can race with Ron Haslam around the Donington GP circuit in an exclusive virtual experience.

Having a smartphone is one thing, but knowing how to get the best out of it can really make a difference – especially when it comes to biking. Apps are just the start, and if you’re after more news, make sure you don’t forget to keep up to date with insidebikes on our blog too!
