The United Kingdom’s first Bimota dealership has opened in Scotland, Motorcycle News has reported. Moto Meccanica, located in Aberdeen, has received shipment of its first two Bimota bikes which are now in-stock and ready for sale.
The two Bimota models include the BMW S1000RR-engined BB3 superbike and a 40th anniversary, limited edition Bimota Tesi.
Dean Morrice, boss of Moto Meccanica, told Motorcycle News that he got in touch with the Bimota factory in Rimini at the start of December last year. He said that he has been in constant contact with new owner, Daniele Longoni, after first approaching him with the idea of bringing the Bimota brand to the UK.
The contract was signed last month, and Morrice commented that he’s extremely proud to have received the Number one plated 40th anniversary Tesi, especially considering that there will only be a total of 40 models produced.
Moto Meccanica opened in the beginning of March as a bike workshop, with the aim of looking after the ever-growing motorcycling community in and around North East Scotland, Morrice told Motorcycle News. The workshop is located in the centre of Aberdeen, catering for all makes of bikes but specialising in Italian marques.
The workshop’s mechanic, Kenny McShane, trained in a Ducati factory. He has the latest diagnostic equipment and DDS Ducati and Panigale tooling at his disposal at Moto Meccanica.
Moto Meccanica will be making its motorcycle show debut on 7 September in nearby Alford. The team have expressed hopes that Bimota co-owner Daniele Longoni will make an appearance.
