Each week our secondhand expert Scott Redmond scours eBay, to see what’s catching his eye. This week it’s Honda’s underrated VFR800X Crossrunner from 2015.
The Honda VFR800X Crossrunner could easily be one of those motorcycles that you’d overlook if you were in the market for an everyday motorcycle. In a world that still insists that you can’t beat cubes it’s no wonder you might dismiss this V4 for being only an 800.
If, however, you’ve taken the opportunity to test ride one you’ll be aware that the VFR800X Crossrunner could potentially be the bike you are looking for.
The VFR800 engine is still a jewel, it delivers dollops of useable torque and even comes with the snazzy Honda VTEC system. Build quality is above average and the conservative paint schemes add to the handsome end product.
If you ride on a daily basis and through all four seasons then the Crossrunner will make even more sense thanks to its comfy riding position.
Our seller informs us that they have used this bike to commute and also to tour, the mileage for this 2015 bike sits at 11,000 miles. Honda threw a few extras at this model, these included an Akrapovic silencer, colour coded top box and a sat nav, all of which are included in the sale.
There’s also a full service history and it’s recently had new brake pads and a tyre.
The asking price is a sensible £6,450.
What to look for when buying a Honda VFR800X Crossrunner?
A full service history is desirable, if it’s lacking this use this to negotiate the price of a full service from the asking price.
Despite its adventure bike looks the Crossrunner is very much a road bike. It’s always worth checking that the wheels aren’t buckled and for any other signs that the owner might have taken the bike off road.
