At this time of year Bank Holidays are a bit like the proverbial buses; you wait ages then two bob along at almost the same time. Mind you, waiting for summer to arrive has been taking longer and we’ll be happy if just the one arrives!
After the May Day wash-out we here at insidebikes have been crossing everything and praying to the Sun God that this weekend sees a surfeit of UV rays blasting down on Blighty. More specifically we’re looking to it being nice and toasty on the Kent south coast; we want a Meltdown in Margate!
We refer of course to the lovely Ace Cafe’s annual ride-out, which, now into its sixth year, is already firmly established as a “must-go” in the biking calendar. The Margate Meltdown kick-starts at the legendary North Circular Road pitstop at 10.30am this Monday before wending its way down A roads and motorways to the coast.
If past events are anything to go by, this looks like it’ll be a cracker. Banish from your mind the tawdry tales of mods and rockers bashing each others’ bonces in the 1960s, this is a 21stcentury feast of friendliness as scores of bikers descend on the resort to enjoy a bit of biking banter, club stands, live entertainment and, no doubt, a 99 on the beach!
Not only can you enjoy a great day out but do so smugly knowing the event is also a fundraiser for those very fine people at the Royal British Legion Riders’ Branch.
You’ll find the Carole Nash team enjoying a day beside the seaside too, dishing out the freebies and once more spreading the word about the bike-tastic free prize draw that is theUltimate Biking Giveaway worth up to £20,000.*
The whole shebang is free to attend and, whether the sun chooses to shine or not, promises to be a right proper good day out! For more details visithttp://acecafeevents.com/margate.html
