Yamaha has announced a new colour palette for its XSR700 and XSR900 retro bikes, as well as the FJR1300 tourer.
As of next year, you’ll be able to specify the MT-07 based XSR700 in what Yamaha call Brilliant Red, in a livery that pays homage to the company’s 1972 XS2 – the 650cc parallel twin that is significant as Yamaha’s first four-stroke engined machine. The XSR700, developed as part of the company’s Sport Heritage range, features neat silver detailing but is otherwise unchanged from the 2017 model, which currently retails at £6699. In addition to the new red, the XSR700 will also be available in silver (or Garage Metal as it is dubbed in the brochure) and black.
Red is also the colour for the three-cylinder, MT-09 derived, XSR900. ‘Racing Red’ is a brighter hue and also comes with silver detailing to echo the three-cylinder XS850 of the 1980s. Like its little brother, the XSR900 is also available in Garage Metal and Tech Black. It’s priced at £8499.
For potential buyers of the long running FJR1300, the colours have been updated with Tech Graphite and Phantom Blue on the options list.
