Italian bike manufacturers, MV Agusta, have launched their 2018 Euro-4 friendly three-cylinder motorcycles.

The new range features an updated Dragster 800RR, F3 675 and F3 800. All are now eligible for the latest batch of stricter noise and emissions laws which saw most manufacturers either kill off bikes for 2017, or put them on a strict noises and emissions reengineering programme.

The new MV Agusta triples feature exhaust gasses reduced by 50% and noise emissions reduced by 48%, yet MV Agusta claim the new bikes still have that renowned aggressive MV Agusta feel and sound.

They may have to meet the stricter Euro4 laws, but they still make decent power according to the Varese-based company.

As well as changes to the engines across the three-cylinder range, the 128bhp MV Agusta F3 675 and the 144bhp version of the F3 800 super sport bikes also get a new frame mount point to increase chassis rigidity.

Inside the motors, the bikes get a host of mechanical changes including a new balance shaft to reduces noise and friction inside the engine, new water and oil pumps, redesigned primary gearing, a new intake cam, valves, valve guide, new gear shifter and larger volume silencers. All the changes are designed to help reduced internal engine noise while still producing decent power and torque.

There’s also remapped electronics, revised up and down electronic gear shifter, and engine cases designed to reduce rumble of the motor while making the motor look more attractive.

For 2018 the naked Dragster RR now makes 140bhp from its freshly noise and emissions restricted motor with similar engine changes to the F3 models.

MV Agusta is now 100 per cent owned by MV Agusta Motor Spa after Mercedes AMG sold its 25 per cent stake in the company. Investment fund ComStar Invest are now a strong minority stakeholder in the company as it attempts to put its recent financial troubles in the past.
