Lexmoto has unveiled a new model, the scrambler styled Tempest 125, at this week’s Motorcycle Live show.
The Devon based company, which is one of the biggest selling motorbike brands in the UK, has developed the Chinese built bike for British riders and given it an on trend retro enduro look.
Powered by the venerable single-cylinder, two valve, Zongshen engine that’s fuel-injected to meet the latest Euro 4 emissions regulations, the Tempest has a classic styled saddle, spoked wheels, old school high-level scrambler exhaust and a neat digital display that’s well specced and includes a gear indicator. It also features linked brakes, again to meet the latest EU specifications.
The prototype shown at Motorcycle Live comes in a neat black and silver (with yellow detailing) paintscheme, with a BMW style white, red and blue option also available when the bike hits showrooms early next year. The production bikes will also wear traditional semi-knobbly dual purpose tyres, rather than the pure road rubber used on the prototype.
The key to Lexmoto’s success in recent years has been to work with the best of the Chinese manufacturers and tailor the bikes to meet British expectations and regulations, keeping the technology simple and the prices low. The Tempest continues this tried and tested formula will retail at £1799 – £1000 less than the entry level 125s from Honda and Yamaha.
