Inside Bikes

Got a question

We’re set to go west for some classic entertainment!

insidebikes is going west this weekend as we don our leathers and hit the M5 bound for the Bath & West Showground.

We shall not be alone as some 18,000 fellow enthusiasts are expected to join us in Shepton Mallet as the 34th Carole Nash Classic MotorCycle Show kicks open its doors on Saturday.

Visitors are unlikely to be disappointed as for a measly tenner (£12 on the gate) they’ll be entertained with an awesome line-up of classic machinery. Some 60 clubs will be displaying their wares, including those representing Ducati, Lambretta, Laverda, MV Augusta, Moto Guzzi, Norton, Rudge, Royal Enfield and Vincent owners. They, along with private entries, will be engaging in friendly but hard fought battles for prize money of up to £750 in the many category contests.

Those who are attending should keep a special eye out for the Cotton Owners & Enthusiasts Club (Main Hall, stand 48) which, to mark the South West marque’s centennial year, is displaying no fewer than 16 machines. Among them you’ll find a 1926 model powered by a Blackburne, which, with Villiers, was the engine manufacturer favoured by Mr Frank Willoughby Cotton. Watch out too for the VMCC which is including in an awesome array A 1913 Ariel DG.

Other attractions include the welcome return of Solo Motorcycle Products’ Chris Hawksley who’ll be firing up his gutsy Norton Domiracer 500 replica – you can catch the impressive sight and sound of this roaring beast here.

Also firing themselves up will be the Carole Nash team who’ll be eagerly waiting for you in the Main Hall (stand 26A) to offer you a quote on your classic, vintage or future classic – 10 years plus – machine.  By getting a quote you’ll be using your head and could soon be protecting it as everyone getting a quote at the show will be entered for a free prize draw to win a shiny new Shark helmet worth £100!^
