If you're still recuperating after the long bank holiday weekend, why not cruise down to Killarney in Ireland and recover in style at the Ireland Bike Fest? The Carole Nash Crew certainly will!
Taking place from Friday 29 May to Monday 1 June, Bike Fest is Ireland's largest free biking event. It began back in 2006, after the success of the European HOG Rally held in Killarney that year. Inspired by the support and enthusiasm of the thousands of bikers who streamed into town, Killarney decided to start its own annual biker festival, and Bike Fest was born.
Now in its ninth year, Bike Fest continues to go from strength to strength, with bikers attending from all over the UK and Europe, unable to resist the roads, scenery, music, entertainment and, of course, the legendary Irish hospitality. Last year saw riders from as far afield as Germany, Spain, Italy, Norway, Denmark, the US and even Australia (though we're not sure they rode all the way!) make the trip to Ireland's 'wild Atlantic way'.
Proceedings kick off at midday on Friday, with live music on stage and in the main tent all day and into the night. Then things really get going on the Saturday, centred on the Bike Village in the grounds of the Gleneagles Hotel, HQ for the event.
You'll find row after row of stalls, stands and cabins selling the latest biking gear, gadgets and accessories, plus scores of magnificent machines from the likes of Harley-Davidson, BMW, Ducati, Honda, Triumph, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki. You can even win a Harley!
This is where you’ll find the Carole Nash Crew, too, manning the Carole Nash stand, handing out free goodie bags and balloons. You’ll also have a chance to win €250 off your next insurance policy in our free prize draw giveaway.
If you're feeling peckish (or thirsty!), check out the wide selection of food and drink outlets at the centre of the village, and kick back for a little while taking in the live music and entertainment on the main stage. There's even a novelty dog show and a fantastic kids zone – something for all the family!
There are rollicking ride-outs, guided or self-guided, throughout the weekend, before the centrepiece parade through Killarney on Sunday morning. Then it's back to the main arena for the Custom Bike Show on Sunday afternoon.
Of course, this being an Irish event, the music, entertainment and general craic are second to none, with live music every day right through until close at midnight on Sunday.
And now for the best bit: entry is absolutely free! Several of the hotels in Killarney are offering reduced rates for the event, and there are numerous campsites knocking around the local lanes. So there's no excuse for not making the most of this weekend of motorbikes, music and mayhem!
