Durham Bikewise turns 21 in style

Durham Constabulary's annual fun-filled Bikewise event celebrated its 21st birthday in style this year, attracting an unprecedented 12,000 visitors who turned out for the festivities despite the rain.

With daring stunt performances, live music and celebrity bikers in attendance, it's no wonder that Bikewise is such a popular annual event. This year's instalment was no exception, with its customary focus on bike safety and responsible riding.

Moving to a new site for its 21st birthday, Bikewise continued its winning formula of family fun, thrilling motorcycle displays and exciting entertainment to wow the crowds and make 2015's event the biggest and best yet.

Highlights of Durham BikeWise 2015

Durham Bikewise's 21st birthday bash was one to remember, with celebs (and celeb bikes) in attendance. Isle of Man TT racing legend John McGuiness brushed shoulders with the crowds while David Beckham's iconic Triumph delighted visitors in the display area.

Yamaha's Dave Coates was on fine form performing death-defying feats of bravery on his bike in what was his 20th consecutive appearance at Bikewise, while free-stylist Jamie Squibb left everyone in awe of his masterful skills as part of the day's line-up.

There was plenty of fun to be had by the whole family, with thrilling fairground rides, face painting, a mini-moto course, and live music courtesy of rock regulars KIMERA. Trade stalls and motorcycle displays added to the attractions on the day.

Durham Constabulary had a few surprises up their sleeves too, landing a police helicopter in a field near the site and organising a police dog show that left no-one in any doubt as to the abilities of these highly-trained canine cops.

Carole Nash at Bikewise 2015

Over at the Carole Nash stand, our team was busy handing out balloons and goodie bags to the event's youngest visitors, and saving mums and dads a packet on their bike insurance with on-the-spot quotes.

Our regular prize draw to knock £250 off one lucky winner's bike insurance was a hit with the Durham crowds – we run the promotion at most of the events we attend so keep a lookout for us at your next motorcycle show.
