A brilliant biking Bank Holiday in Hastings!
It may have been windy, but the bike1066 Spring Opener was the perfect way to blow away the winter cobwebs, as over 40,000 people and more than 17,000 bikes turned up for an unforgettable day.
Britain’s biggest free-to-attend motorcycle festival, this annual event at the seaside is now a firm favourite in the biking world. And from what we saw, that’s not really surprising.
Hastings rolled out the red carpet and lots of the pubs, bars and restaurants put on biker-friendly events and welcomed families. Everywhere you went there was live music and plenty to keep kids of every age entertained.
Everyone loved being by the seaside at bike1066
Stretching from the town centre and splashed out all along the seafront there were stalls and stands of every size and type. Like an endless bazaar to lose yourself in – offering great buys in all the paraphernalia that goes with the greatest form of transport ever invented. Leathers, helmets, parts, accessories...and bargains you just wouldn’t believe.
As for bikes, well we don’t think we’ve ever seen so many all in one place. Brand new models, classics, custom-builds. And around mid day, thousands of them arrived as a glorious cavalcade in the May Day rideout that had set off earlier from Locksbottom in Kent.
It was an amazing day from start to finish with so many magic moments to remember, including the traditional ‘Jack in the Green’ festival in the town centre. A few of the Carole Nash team couldn’t resist getting a few selfies posing with people dressed up as trees!
Winning ways in the Carole Nash tent at bike1066
The famous Carole Nash tent was unmissable in a prime spot by the beach, and it pulled in plenty of bikers eager for a cracking quote on motorcycle insurance. They grabbed free goodies and got entered in our free prize draw to win a fantastic GoPro camera package.
