Inside Bikes

Got a question

If you’ve ever ogled a Café Racer as it rips past on full bore, or dreamt of building your own Scrambler, the chances are you will have already heard of the guys at Bike Shed Motorcycle Club, or BSMC for short.

Now a permanent venue in London’s beardy heartland of Shoreditch, the BSMC HQ is built to celebrate the creative scene of new wave custom motorcycles. The permanent venue cleverly combines some of the coolest motorcycles in the UK, USA and European new custom scene with a restaurant, accessory and kit shop, plus a barber’s, and a bar. If you’re ever passing, make sure you drop by and say hello, anyone is welcome.

But now the guys and girls at Bike Shed Motorcycle Club are about to unleash their fourth show over May Spring Bank holiday weekend, May 27 and May 28.

Personally, I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather spend my weekend.

Held at London’s Tobacco Dock, the Bike Shed show features 150 custom motorcycles hand chosen by the Bike Shed crew to appear at the show. But be warned, this is not your usual motorcycle trade fair, it offers something very unique to events like Motorcycle Live, for instance.

There’s live art and photography, hand-made accessories, retailers and exhibitors, again, all carefully selected to keep the pureness of the Bike Shed scene, but expect exhibits from Triumph, Yamaha, Ducati, Indian and BMW along with specially selected pro-builds, amateurs and shed-builders.

Bike Shed Motorcycle Club founder, Dutch Van Someren said: “This year’s exhibition event really will be bigger, better and bolder than ever. We have taken on much more space at Tobacco Dock, and we intend to be even more picky about the quality of the exhibitors, retailers and hospitality. Even more of the crew are volunteers, paid staff are hand-picked, and we will keep our home-grown feel throughout the event.”

He continued: “In response to feedback from last year there will be even more food & drink, more space for kids, more music and entertainment, and every single bike will have earned its place on its Bike Shed plinth.”

As well as the bikes and kit, the event is also famous for its superb hospitality with healthy street food, barista coffee, several proper bars, cigar & whiskey lounges, live music, plus multiple live tattoo artists and traditional barber shop.

It’s a real space to hang out with the family and the kids and is expected to attract 15,000 visitors over the weekend.

It opens for press and preview evening (special guests) on Friday May 26, public days are Saturday May 27 and Sunday May 28.
