Bike 1066 spring opener 2016 preview
Are you ready for Britain’s biggest free-to-attend motorcycle festival? This annual run to the seaside is now a firm favourite in the biking world. This year the organisers are expecting 90,000 people and more than 40,000 bikes. They’re also lining up live BSB coverage, over 50 exhibitors, live music and non-stop fun. So where else would you want to be this Spring Bank Holiday?
Bike 1066 spring opener 2016, a short history lesson
The high spot of the day is the May Day rideout, starting at about 8.30am from Locksbottom, near Bromley in Kent. The first one took place 38 years ago, and it’s now one of the oldest established and best loved rideouts in the country. So by mid-morning this May Day, thousands of bikers will be streaming in to Hastings and turning the seafront into a kaleidoscope of colour. It’s going to be the biggest invasion since William the Conqueror turned up on the beach – but this time there’ll be cheering crowds to welcome the ‘invaders’!
Why you’ll love to be beside the seaside
Spilling out from Hastings town centre and all along the seafront, there’ll be stalls and stands of every size and type. More bikes than you’d ever expect to see in place – from brand new models to classics and custom-builds. Plus, all the paraphernalia that goes with the greatest form of transport ever invented. Leathers, helmets, parts, accessories…and that bargain you never thought you’d find. Oh, and apparently there’s a beach, too!
See the BSB action, at Bike 1066 – Spring opener 2016
You won’t have to be at Oulton Park to catch the BSB action this May, because all the thrills and all the atmosphere will be shown larger than life on a giant screen that will give you an even better view than actually being there. And you can bet there’ll be lots of fans tweeting all the latest news and passing it on.
Bike 1066 spring opener 2016 – the family-friendly festival
Hastings always rolls out the red carpet for the big day and really gets into the spirit of things. Lots of the town’s pubs, bars and restaurants put on biker-friendly events and special deals, with families welcome. There’ll be live music everywhere you go, and all kinds of things going on to keep kids of every age entertained.
