Stuck for something to do on May Day Bank Holiday Monday?

Why not head to Hastings for the bike1066 Spring Opener, the largest free motorcycling event in England!

The bike1066 Spring Opener is a welcome event for bikers participating in the annual May Day Run.

Last year, it’s estimated that a record 32,000 bikers pulled-up in Hastings to enjoy the event, with the bikes creating a fantastic display along the seafront. And 2014 is expected to be bigger and better than ever before!

All the main action of the day will take place in the town centre and along the seafront. There will be loads going on for everyone to enjoy, including live music and entertainment, trade stands and over 50 exhibitors. For those into their motorsport, there will be live BSB coverage throughout the day.

For 36 years now, thousands of motorcyclists have visited Hastings to take part in the annual May Day Run, which is a mass ride out from Locksbottom in Kent to Hastings. Before 2011 there was no official welcome event for bikers when they arrived in Hastings. So, bike1066, a group responsible for promoting events and tourism in Hastings and surrounding areas, worked with the local council to come up with an event. And so, in 2012, the bike1066 Spring Opener was launched.

This is a fantastic event and not one to be missed. A total 76,000 people are expected to turn up this year, make sure you’re one of them!
