Get your helmets ready! Bikers all over the country are already revving up for the UK’s biggest free-to-attend one-day biking event – the Bike1066 spring opener in Hastings, East Sussex.

Over 40,000 bikes and 90,000 people are expected to descend on the town on Bank Holiday Monday, 4th May. That’s the biggest crowd since the Billy the Conk rocked up with his Norman conquerors 949 years ago!

The centrepiece of the event is the May Day Run, celebrating its 37th year. From humble beginnings back in the heyday of mods and rockers, the run has mushroomed into an enormous family-friendly festival of biking.

Starting from Locksbottom, near Bromley in Kent, at about 8.30am, over 20,000 bikers are expected to snake their way through the region’s glorious countryside and villages, waved on by cheering crowds and picnicking families, before arriving in an enormous cavalcade of noise and colour at biker central along Hastings seafront around 11am.

The seafront and Hastings town centre itself will be lined with over 60 stalls, stands and exhibitors – and even more bikers and bike fans. There’ll be a giant video screen showing British Superbike action live from Oulton Park in Cheshire, and many of the town’s pubs, bars and restaurants put on biker-friendly events and special deals, plus  more live music than you can shake a drumstick at.

The Carole Nash Crew will be there, too, hopefully in a prime spot near the beach! We’ll be dishing out fantastic Carole Nash balloons and goodies bags, posing for selfies (in the sun with a bit of luck) and generally getting into the biking spirit.

If you want to see if you could save some money on your bike insurance, pop over to the stand as we’ll be providing quick quotes. We’ll also be running a free prize draw giveaway* to win £250 towards your bike insurance for a year. So come over a chat and let’s see how much we could save you on your insurance.

The Bike1066 May Day spring opener starts at about 9am on Bank Holiday Monday, and winds down for about 5pm. Best of all, it’s absolutely free, so all the more reason to come on over and have some fun!
