Movie Buffs Spend Two Years Transforming Classic Car Into Ghostbusters Replica

Two mechanics from Dudley have spent two years and over £50,000 transforming a classic car into the ultimate Ghostbusters ‘Ecto-1’ replica.

Classic car and movie fanatic Paul Harborne, along with business partner Tim Jordan, were both desperate to hunt down a rare 1960 Cadillac Miller-Meteor for the project.

The Cadillac Miller-Meteor was originally used as an American ambulance. Only 2,000 were manufactured during the space of four years in the late 50s/early 60s; the duo thought they wouldn’t stand a chance finding one, but luckily enough they tracked one down for sale just a few miles away in Leicester.

During the two years, the duo gave the car a white emulsion coating, painted the famous Ghostbuster logo on the bonnet and doors, and kitted it out with a whole host of mock-up ghost-capturing equipment.

The biggest problem Paul and Tim faced was sourcing parts for the car – the original vehicles were hand-built, so factory parts are very hard to come by. Because of this, the duo built the majority of the bodywork themselves.

Paul told the Daily Mail that he always wanted to own a cool classic car from a film, but the Batmobile had already been done so he had to think of something else. He said he’s got a soft spot for Ghostbusters – plus the car is a six-seater, so it can be used as a limo.

So, if you’re after a classic car from the movies for an upcoming party, prom or wedding, who you gonna call? Paul and Tim, of course!
