What are the different types of motorbike insurance cover?

When you take out insurance for your Harris motorbike, it’s important to choose a level of cover that suits your needs. There are three types of bike insurance to choose between:

  • Third party: This level of insurance will only cover damage to a third party’s vehicle or property.
  • Third party, fire, and theft: A step up from third party, this policy will also cover your bike if it is stolen or damaged by fire.
  • Comprehensive: This is the highest level of cover you can get. It covers all of the above whilst also insuring you for any accidental damage to your own bike.

What won’t be covered by Harris motorcycle insurance?

In some circumstances your motorcycle insurance may be invalidated, which means it’ll stop covering you. For example, any injury, loss, damage, or accident would not be covered if:

  • Your Harris is being ridden by someone who doesn’t have a licence
  • Your bike is being ridden by someone who isn’t named on the certificate of insurance
  • Your bike is carrying passengers or goods in a way that affects how safe it is to ride

It is important to familiarise yourself with these exclusions. The above are only examples, and you should check your policy wording for more details.

How much will my Harris motorbike insurance cost?

Unfortunately, it’s impossible to provide a definitive answer to this question because the price will depend on a number of factors. These factors range from your age and riding experience to the model of your bike, how you store it, and which level of cover you decide to take out.
