Inside Bikes

Got a question

The new 2015 Scout bike has been unveiled by US motorcycle brand Indian, which is owned by Polaris.

Indian said that the new model was designed to be a bike for all abilities and represents a "contemporary yet classic interpretation of one of motorcycling's most famous and coveted bikes."

It weighs in at 558 pounds, which Indian claimed is the lightest in its class. In fact it's almost one-third less than the Indian Chief Classic, the foundation of the Indian line, Bloomberg Businessweek reported.

The bike has a classic "rigid triangle" design that is synonymous with original Scouts. The chassis design of the 2015 Indian Scout incorporates a lightweight and rigid cast aluminium frame coupled with a low 25.3-inch seat height for optimum comfort, balance and manoeuvrability. The bike is powered by a liquid-cooled, 69 cubic inch, 100 HP V-twin engine.

Other features include a premium, genuine tan leather solo bucket seat, making the 2015 Indian Scout the only brand to offer this seating as standard.

The manufacturer is confident that the low seat height, manoeuvrability and lightweight design, together with its high horsepower and superior handling, will make the Scout appeal to a wide range of riders, riding styles and experience levels.

Available from late 2014, the 2015 Scout has a starting price of $10,999 (£6,530).

Polaris resurrected the Indian brand in 2013 and now makes three models under the Indian name.
