Inside Bikes

Got a question

Last week, everyone here at insidebikes was saddened to hear that one of our favourite biking legends and Carole Nash ambassador, 'Rocket' Ron Haslam, had been involved in an accident at Fat Cat Moto Parc in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

Having stopped to help a fellow rider after a minor spill, the accident occurred when the veteran rider caught the handlebars of his pit bike on the track's tyre wall – resulting in a series of nasty bumps and bruises.

In an exclusive interview with insidebikes, Ron has been in touch to update us on his progress since the spill.

"I broke my collarbone in quite a few places" he explains, "I also broke four ribs and punctured my lung. I am hoping to be back in six weeks, ready for when my race school starts again on April 5th."

Speaking about the incident, Ron highlights how the biggest blow wasn't the injuries he sustained, but the fact that he could no longer attend the launch of one of 2017's most anticipated arrivals.

"The biggest thing I am disappointed with is the launch of the CBR1000 SP Fireblade– something Honda invited me to attend in Portugal. It is always a great honour to go to events like these, so I'm sad to be missing out."

Ever upbeat, Ron then went on to tell us about the up and coming British Superbike season, an event which his son and Carole Nash brand ambassador, Leon Haslam, will be competing in.

"I am excited about this year’s BSB. This year has the best line up I've ever known, and it'll be difficult for many riders in the championship. Leon is happy and confident ahead of his second year on the Kawasaki – and I know he'd like to thank all his sponsors that have stood by him, including Carole Nash."
