Brogan Replaced By Farquhar for 2014 Phillip Island Classic.

Four-time Dukes Road Racing Rankings Champion, Ryan Farquhar, will be replacing Steve Brogan in the UK team for this year’s Australian Motorcycle News International Island Classic at Phillip Island, which will take place from 24 to 26 January, Bike Sports News reported.

With Brogan being unavailable for the race due to family matters, the Irish racer was quick to step in and will race for the fourth time in the Tahbilk International Challenge, which is the big ticket event to the Island Classic.

Around the 4.45 km Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit, Farquhar finished fourth in 2011 and seventh in 2012. However, he was unable to compete last year because of mechanical issues.

The event is great because it is one of the best short circuit races across the globe, Farquhar commented, adding that Philip Island’s scenery is fantastic. This year, the UK team is stronger than ever before, and the rule changes are likely to even things up, Farquhar said. He commented that if the motorcycles are truly as good as he hopes, they are likely to bring fierce competition to the Australians.

Farquhar is known as one of the best motorcycle riders thanks to his success in the Isle of Man TT race. He has also won five races at the Cookstown 100 in one day and is regarded as one of the most stylish and accomplished motorcycle riders in road racing.
