Inside Bikes

Got a question

The Dickies Quad Beach Cross Event is set to make the headlines again this month, seeing riders of quad bikes, beach buggies and motorcycles demonstrating their skills on the tracks from 22 to 23 February, The Dorset Echo reports.

Both young and older participants from the UK and Europe will participate in the event, and will show off their riding skills on the one-mile long beach course.

The younger riders, aged between eight and 16, will perform on 22 February, with the adults taking centre stage the following day.

The beach course will allow competitors to reach speeds of 70mph while encountering holes, jumps, chicanes and a high-speed straight.

The organisers of the all-action motoring event expect that it will gather the biggest crowds ever, who will enjoy the skills of competitors aged from six to 72, Duncan Irons, spokesman for organisers ORE Events said. They are also working with local residents and companies to further boost the number of visitors to Weymouth, he added.

The event’s goal is to raise funds for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance Services. Tickets will be on sale for £5 per adult and children aged under 16 can attend for free.

Coun Ian Bruce, spokesman for tourism and culture at the Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, is hopeful that the event will provide seasonal economic growth for the town and deliver an outstanding spectacle for residents and visitors.
